SitePoint is one of the Highest Ranked DoFollow Forums

SitePoint’s Forum is one of the Highest Ranked DoFollow Forums Out There.

So your only interested in building Page Popularity, and improving your Search Engine Rank? Register at the Forums below, place your link in your Signature and become an Active Poster.

Please do not join the Forums to directly Advertise and post threads about your site. Usually Advertising Your Site will simply be regarded as Forum Spamming and will result in most members ignoring Your Site Link. Also, even worse, a possible ban to your newly created forum account could be issued for Advertising Your Site. Why would you risk Advertising, posting one link to Your Site, and getting banned, when you could simply add a Link to your signature? When Your Site’s Link is in your Signature every thread or reply you post adds a Seperate Backlink to Your Site, and you can make as many posts as you like with every one adding to Your Site’s Popularity little by little.

Also, make sure to Join Forums that are closely related to the niche, or keywords of your site. Search Engines look at relations between sites to determine PageRank and Popularity.

The Table below displays a link to the Forum and also displays the Forum’s Google PageRank, remember, incoming links (backlinks), from a few sites with Higher PageRanks have a greater effect on your sites Popularity than many sites with Less Popularity.

So now your site has been added, and ready to be found in a search. Not so fast, you may notice when you search for Keywords defining your site, your site doesn’t come up on top, even if it does have the best fitting content for the search query. This is because most search engines, like Google, display search results based on Site Popularity. A website’s popularity is based on how many other sites Link to it, and how Popular the sites linking to it are. Google’s Popularity System is known as PageRank, you can check your sites PageRank on various PageRank Checkers such as This One.

Building Site Popularity, Gaining Backlinks

So now you need to build site popularity by building links to your site, these links are called backlinks. There are many ways to build backlinks, to get started you may submit your site to various directories. Directories are Popular Sites, so placing a link in one will help out Your Site’s popularity immensly. Below is a list of the Top Free Directories to Submit to. However, there are thousands of Directories out there, many which require pay for submission, or a recipricol Link (a Link back from your site).

Exchanging Links With Related Sites

Exchanging links with other sites that have similar content to Yours is also very helpful in increasing traffic to your site as well as increasing Your Site’s Popularity.

Commenting Blogs and Forum Posting

Another way to build backlinks to Your Site which is becoming more and more common among Webmaster commenting blogs and Positng in Forums. Commenting in Blogs creates Exposure to Your Site and may help improve Your Sites Popularity. Do not Spam Blogs by only Posting a Link to Your Website, write a decent Comment. Otherwise, your Link will likely be deleted by the Blog’s Administrator.

Next, using a Posting in Forums, how can this benefit a Sites Popularity. Simple, use a Forum Signature. Place a link to your website in your Forum Signature. Now, everytime you post in that Forum you will gain Exposure to Your Site and Your Site may earn Popularity.

However, do not Spam the Forum with useless posts, this behavior is likely to get you banned. Make quaility posts, you will become more Respectable among other members in the Forum, and the Links in your Signature will gain a higher Rate of Traffic.

DoFollow and NoFollow

You may have noticed in the last section the emphasise of the word, may, which I used in the context of helping Your Page’s Popularity. This is becase many Blogs and Forums contain a NoFollow tag. What is a NoFollow Tag? Well, a NoFollow Tag tells Search Engines what to Ignore. In this case, a NoFollow Link would disable search engines from Following Blog Comment Links, or Forum Signature Links.

You may wonder why you would even consider posting on a NoFollow Forum or Blog. The simple answer is that even though these links won’t help your Site’s Popularity or Search Engine Ranking,, they will still bring in Traffic, and Expose Your Site since they are in fact links.

However, if you feel that NoFollow links area waste of time, Click Here to view a list of DoFollow Forums.

Anchor Text, An Important Tip

Another Tip… When building links is do not always use the same Anchor Text per Link. For example, instead of always using the link: SiteNoob, you would use related keywords in the Anchor (the Link Name) such as Website Creation, Promotion, and Profit. Search engines look at the Anchor Text when Looking at a Query.

Do Not…

There are some Do Not’s in Web Site Promotion..

1) Do not Build Too Many Links Too Quick, you might ask what is wrong with this? Well, the problem is even though you could Recieve a lot of Traffic this way, Google will look at the Great Rise in Backlinks and say it is Unnatural. When Google Decides it is Unnatural, the Backlinks may not count, or worse, Google could punish you by Lowering your Popularity, or Banning your Site, Etc.

2) Do Not Join LinkFarms. LinkFarms make Exchanging Links Simple. However, Google frowns upon these Links. Not only will Google disregard these links, you may also be punished through Google. One more problem with these LinkFarms is that your Site Link is being placed on very unrelated sites. Therefore, you will most likely be recieving untargetted traffic.

Let’s Get Real

Using the methods above will get your site a start. However, I’m not Promising Your Site will be recieving Millions of Hits afte a Night of Promotion. To achieve a lot of traffic and have a successful site, Above All, you need Persistance. Just keep on promoting, you may notice very little Progress in the beginning, however, if you Keep on Keeping on the Likely Hood of Your Site Reaching the Top Increases Greatly.

Uploading Your Website

Uploading Your Website

Uploading Your Web Site

Becoming Part of the World Wide Web.

Alright, so now you have some files, and you want everyone else to see them. What you need now is a place to put your website; you need a host, and a domain name. A host provides the space on the internet to place your files on, and a domain name is the address you will use to access your site, Site-Noob is hosted by HostGator.com and is located at sitenoob.com, our domain name, on behalf of GoDaddy.com, a Domain Registrar.

Hosting and acquiring a domain address can either be free, or cost money, it depends on what kind of Web Site you are creating. If your hosting a simple, small (file-sized) website, you can find a free host, such as 50webs.com. Most Free Hosting Providers do not support many scripts, or interactive features in a Website. For this reason, if your Trying to create a Blog (such as SiteNoob.com), or a Forum , you will most likely need to go with a Paid Host.  Again, If you have a giant website, which requires tons of bandwidth (Data-Usage), and you need My SQL (a type of Database), your best off to go with a Paid Host. Though there are a couple of free hosts which offer these features, they are very hard to find.

Next, domain names, most hosts, free or paid, provide free Sub Domains. A Sub Domain’s address will look like your-site.your-hosts-name.com. Remember, these Sub Domains are free; however, most people want their own personal domain names. I you want your own domain name (your-site.com), you will have to buy it. However, don’t get your panties in a bunch, domain names aren’t to hard on the wallet, they are relatively cheap, usually under $8. You can purchase a domain name from various websites, known as Domain Registrars, such as Go-Daddy, and many others.

Anyway however, you decide to host, and provide a domain for your site, you may begin uploading your files, and setting up your website on the WWW.

Usually there are two ways a host allows you to upload files, either through a browser based upload client found on Your Host’s C-Panel, or through FTP (File Transfer Protocol). You can upload through FTP by using one of many FTP programs. I am currently using Core FTP Lite, which is a simple, and free FTP Client. Below is a image of Core FTP Lite, it is very basic, but it does the job well. You can Checkout other FTP Programs Here: FTP Program Downloads.

Core FTP Lite is a Nice Free FTP Program

To actually upload files using FTP you need to know site information such as your Host Address, and the username and password assigned specifically for your FTP account. To obtain this information consult the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Section of your host, or contact Support at your Host’s Website.
